Who are we?
At ECU we are a bunch of ordinary people who follow an extraordinary God. By God's love we're discovering what it means to live with Jesus Christ as our rightful King, honouring him and enjoying his goodness to us.

Students at ECU come from a whole range of courses, nationalities and from a whole range of different Christian denominations. Even if you aren't a Christian you are always welcome at ECU events.

What are we on about?
Getting to know God

Forgiveness, love and a right relationship with our creator all come through getting to know Jesus so it's Jesus we're trying to know, learn more about and serve better. And our desire is that all students have the opportunity to hear and respond to Jesus.

Listening to God's Word

God has spoken clearly to the world and therefore to us in the Bible, and that is why at ECU we focus on teaching and studying the Bible. Our Bible talks are clear, challenging, to the point and relevant to living in today's world and we seek to prayerfully apply them to our lives.

Serving One Another

Jesus said, "If you are my disciples, then love one another". So, that's something at ECU we take seriously as we try to care for one another. We serve each other in practical ways and by equipping ourselves with skills to do this better.
What do we believe?
Here you can find about the beliefs and purpose of the Evangelical Christian Union. We believe in the Doctrinal Basis of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES):
  • A: The divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • B: The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  • C: The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
  • D: The conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and his birth of the virgin Mary.
  • E: Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrifical death (as your Representative and Substitute) of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God.
  • F: The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
  • G: The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective to the individual sinner, granting him repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ.
  • H: The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
  • I: The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The AFES network

ECU is affiliated with AFES, the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students, which has student Christian groups on most university campuses around Australia.
