Welcome to first year students
Does life begin at Uni?
Jesus said that he came to give life to the full. He meant both eternal life, and life as it was meant to be - the best life, which involves knowing God. As you start at Cumberland, come and join in with the Evangelical Christian Union. We have various activities that will help you settle in, find out about life to the full that Jesus offers, and get to know a whole lot of fellow students.

The best way to get to know other students at ECU before uni starts, is to come to our KickOn conference (Friday 23rd-Sunday 25th Feb) - that way when you start up at Cumberland you'll already know a heap of people! And what's more, the conference is on something incredibly important: All for the glory of God. There is a special discount for first years! For more information and to rego, click here.
In O-week and week 1 we'll have an ECU stall where you can come up and meet us, find out more about ECU and anything you want to know about Cumbo. And we'll have some fun taking place not too far from the stall to get people mixing. We're holding a free Welcome BBQ on Wednesday of week 1 on the lawn next to B-block. Come along for some food and drinks, and get to know students from your course group, and some upper year students from your course group who will give you some advice. It will also be a chance to hear about our small groups. Come to our Public Meetings (Thursdays 12-1 in T block) where we'll be looking at Paul's letter to the Philippians! ECU small groups are fantastic for getting to know Jesus and other first year students in your course. This semester, we will be reading through key passages in Luke's gospel. There isn't a better way to get to know Jesus, than through the interactions he had with people that Luke records, and they are fun to investigate - they are never dull! Small groups are open to everyone, believers, agnostics and atheists alike. If you would like to join a small group, contact Kitty or sign up here. |
